Stable Steps -
Work Based Learning on the Farm

Empowering neurodivergent youth with hands-on farm experiences

Stable Steps is a year-round, farm-based experiential program designed to prepare neurodivergent youth for success in the workforce. Through real, structured work experiences with animals and farm operations, participants build job skills, confidence, and personal responsibility — all within a supportive, small-group environment.

 

At Stable Steps, work is real, learning is active, and every task is an opportunity for personal growth. Participants leave with stronger skills, greater self-assurance, and a clearer sense of what it means to contribute meaningfully to a team.

Program Details

Structure:

  • Session Length: 2 hours

  • Group Size: Up to 3 participants per session

  • Schedule: Saturday afternoons and Sundays - inquire about what the current set time is

  • Supervision: Participants work under direct supervision and guidance
     

Skill Development Areas:

  • Daily care of farm animals (horses, sheep, chickens)

  • Barn and property maintenance tasks

  • Seasonal and project-based farm work

  • Workplace communication and teamwork

  • Accountability, time management, and task completion
     

Eligibility:

  • Ages 14–22

  • Ability to engage safely in a farm environment with basic support

  • Commitment to regular attendance and active participation
     

Program Pricing:

  • One Month (3 sessions): $180

  • Two Months (6 sessions): $330 (discounted)
